Installing TNA Server as a Service

TNA version 4.00 and later
A service is an application
type that runs in the background and is similar to UNIX daemon
applications. Service applications typically provide Features
such as client/server applications, Web servers, database
servers, and other server-based applications to users, both
locally and across the network.
- TNA Sever can only be installed as a service on the PC
on which the TNA dataset has been installed.
- Services are started before network connections are made
and will therefore not be able to connect to the dataset if
mapped to another PC on the network.
- The PC operating system
must be that of Windows NT, Windows XP, Windows Server 2000
or higher.
- Install TNA on the
server PC and run the TNA Server from the Windows Start
/ TNA programs group.

- Right-click on the
Server icon in the Windows taskbar and select
Restore from the pop-up menu.

- The TNA Server window
will maximize, displaying the Servers option list in the
left side panel.

- Select Options
and the following three buttons will become available:
-
Install as a Service
By selecting this
option, the Server will be installed as a service. A
window acknowledging the successful installation will be
displayed.

If the Server has
already been installed, an error window will be
displayed confirming that a service entry could not be
created.

Reboot the PC and
TNA Server will start automatically. Do not start the
service via Windows Service Manager if TNA Server is
already running.
-
Remove as a Service
By selecting this
option, the Server will be removed as a service. A
window acknowledging the successful removal will be
displayed.

If the Server has
not been removed an error window will be displayed
confirming that a service entry could not be removed.

complete the removal of the service.
