Multiple LAN collect using CapeClocks
2.30d Professional Edition and later
The Professional Edition of TNA 200 allows for multiple LAN collecting
points. This means that multiple
PCs can collect from different
clocks at the same time. The PCs all store their
information in the same place on the server.
By definition the use of multiple
collect points requires a LAN. IT is strongly advised that a
proper file
server is used in this configuration. A peer-to-peer network is
not recommended, although the >server= can be running Win95 (with
appropriate patches) or Win98.
The TNA 2000 Licence must be set to Professional or Enterprise.
You can install TNA 2000 as normal. During Installation make
the following changes to the TNA2000 Ini file. Do this on all the
workstations where a CapeClock will be connected. Do this Before
running the Comms module for the first time.
a) Open the TNA2000.Ini file, in the Windows directory, on that
computer
b) Go to the [EcoComms] section.
c) Enter the name of this machine, and the port number.
The name for each machine must be unique. You can decide on the
name. Machine names should be 10 characters long, or less. The port
number should be in the form Com1 or Com2 and so on. Different collecting
machines are allowed to use different
Com ports. Eg
[EcoComms]
MachineName=Remote1
Port=Com1
d) Run the Comms module before leaving the computer.
The clocks will Auto-Detect as normal. |
